Danish Meditation Course  October 2009.

I am sitting in a window seat flying home from Denmark.

The sky is soft blue, gradually becoming paler and then green and cream at  the horizon.  Here it  merges into  the floor, or ceiling of the world (depending on your view point ) that of the amazing unreal clouds.

Even up here there is an essence of the light being Autumnal, golden. It is awesome. Not awesome  as in the “cool, down with the kids” kind of awesome, but the true meaning, that  of “amazement and respect”. I have flown on numerous occasions but each time I am as a child, almost fearless and exalting in the mind expanding experience of being in the sky like a bird.

How can this be possible, the gift of flight ?

Now before you start, I don't want  a scientific and logical explanation of aerodynamics, thank you.

IT HAPPENS, IT WORKS, I know it.

On a mind level no explanation is necessary. Leave me my experience and my acceptance of this phenomenon.

17 years ago I started to meditate and began my course in learning to accept the explicable experiences. The decision to do this changed my life. The journey since has involved some major changes in myself, by myself for myself. The courage and security that has enabled me to go through this has come from the teachings of Gururaj Ananda Yogi.

I never had the opportunity to meet this amazing man, he died before I attended a British Meditation Course.  Although he has been gone some time now ,his teachings are still as relevant today as they ever were. People still ask the same questions. We are all suffering from what is commonly called in Britain 'The Human Condition.'

I look out of the window again and the clouds are nearly all gone but we are still floating in the extraordinary experience.

I came to Denmark on 30th September 2009  for a 4 day Danish Meditation Course. This was held on an unpronounceable island called Or-o- the line will not make it a Saturn on my keyboard.

On my arrival I was as before enveloped in your wonderful Danish hospitality. Thank you so much to Karin, Paul Erik and Simon.

On the Thursday we collected Bende, another great Dane with such a sense  fun and travelled to Hegnegarden  on the remote, peaceful and beautiful island of Oro. The Danish reputation for hospitality continued to be maintained.

There were 12 of us at the most on the course. People came when they could and left when they had to, but the time in between, WELL that is why I'm writing this.

Sometimes in your life you meet certain people and there is a deep connection, deeper than friends you have known for years, deeper than some people you grew up with, even some members of you own family.

Meditators  are these kind of special  people. The reason is the connection is not at a physical or intellectual level but at a deep spiritual level involving the heart and  allowing an opening up to take place.  Secure in each others company and open to experience amazing things. Now this may all sound a bit heavy and solemn so let me tell you it was exactly the opposite. The overall noise heard was laughter and it was great fun.

What did you do on the course one of my friends asked me on my return. It is like someone asking what was the Opera  you just went to see like.

Well this man comes on and sings how he loves the lady, then she comes on and sings about how much she loves him and then they come on together and both sing. This explanation is partly true but it isn't going to sell a lot of seats is it?

So lets remember this is not going to convey a fraction of the experience we had.  We came together as a group of people who had a sincere desire to understand more of the spiritual needs we as humans have. We searched together to try to understand how to live a meaningful life, to be as able as we can be in our lives to enable us to help ourselves and others.

Meditation  and the teachings that come with it is very practical, it gives perspective, it helps you deal with insecurities, fears and  misconceptions and put down guilt stuff. It enables you to see the way you are and supports you if you choose a different way of being.

If any of this appeals to you,  it doesn't matter where you live just go to the next course, there is no experience like it. For any British people it was the easiest journey I have made. The Danes do transport that is clean, reliable and on time, now for a Brit that alone is a mind boggling event.

I look out of the window again it looks like the end of the world, the sun is setting  a fiery orange surrounded by green, blue and yellow then the clouds    dense grey Valhalla, enter the Valkyrie, pure magic.

What an end to a fantastic trip.

Thank you Ase and all my wonderful Danish friends.
